Ikea bed "hack"

ikea bed fix.

Don't ever buy an Ikea bed. I had to a couple of years ago because I lived in an apartment where nothing would literally fit down the stairs. The old dark brown beams cracked right down the middle, but they were less than an inch thick, so I'm not surprised. Ikea obviously knew there was a problem with this style of bed, because when I went back to get replacement parts earlier this year, the beams were HUGE and just did not fit right with the old bed. However, I did my best. Click on the photo and check out more from my project on my flickr account. Also, never get slats.

Tolex totally off

I was able to pull the whole thing off in one clean sheet... this is going to make a great template for the leatherette I plan on putting on it. Also looks like I'll need a big long piece, probably 3 meters long.

See step one, here.
